9th Gen Predictions

Now, most 8th gen consoles are 3 years old now, but when do you think 9th gen will come out? 2024? 2027? Maybe even 2030? Well, let's predict when. If we want to, the best way is use an average on our console releases.

PlayStation

The PlayStation 1 (1994) and 2 (2000) had a 6 year difference, the PlayStation 2 and 3 (2006) also had a 6 year difference, but the PlayStation 3 and 4 (2013) had a 7 year difference, same as the PlayStation 4 and 5 (2020). So, using an average, every 2 consoles has a 1 year stretch, Meaning we get 8 years, giving us 2028. But we need to measure Xbox and Nintendo.

Xbox

The OG Xbox (2001) and Xbox 360 (2005) had a 4 year difference, the Xbox 360 and Xbox One (2013) had a 8 year difference, and the Xbox One and Xbox Series X (2020) had a 7 year difference. This is tricky, we have 3 different time spans, but if we make an average between 4, 8, and 7, we get 9.

Nintendo

Now if I type every Nintendo console, my fingers would die. So let's go over the last 4 Nintendo consoles (including handhelds) The DS (2004) and the Wii (2006) have a 2 year difference. The Wii and the 3DS (2011) have a 5 year difference. The 3DS (2011) and Wii U (2012) have an astonishing 1 year difference. The Wii U (2012) and the Nintendo Switch (2017) have a 5 year difference. If we do an average of 2, 5, and 1, we get 7.

Now for the final average. If we get an average of the difference that popped up the most, which were 5 and 7, we get 8! So the Nintendo Switch 2, could come in 2025, While the PS6 and the Xbox Series Z come come in 2028! Hope this helped you!
